I just saw the ridiculous Segura wife ad again. This is her EXACT quote: “When I had to have an emergency D&C after I had a miscarriage, Juan Pablo supported my decision.” WTF?
It really is so WTF, and even WTF-er is that paid campaign consultants thought this would make him look good.
I think that ad tanked Segura for any Independent women. Let's see how long before he puts his house up for sale. Bookmarking this thread for when that inevitably happens.
Dems: “Republicans don’t support life of mother abortion exceptions!” Segura: “I support life of mother abortion exceptions and have a personal story that deeply affected me” Dems: “you monster!”
I think you’ve misunderstood the medical issues. She did not have an abortion. She had a d & c to remove dead fetal remains. I had the same procedure. Even my very pro life Irish grandmother who was literally born in the 19th century told me I should get the procedure (she lost her uterus due to retained fetal remains after a miscarriage during the depression). My pro life mom also told me to have the d & c. This is totally different from an exception in an abortion law to save the life/health of a mother.
This is exactly right, and a perfect description of why I was so disgusted by the ad. It was deliberately misleading. It was designed to give the impression that Segura supports abortion exceptions for “life of the mother“ when it had nothing to do with that. The fetus was already dead. There was no “choice“ involved. This was strictly a medical procedure.
