Today, 2:30 Lisa DesJardins, PBS: “What are the chances of a government shutdown?” House Speaker Kevin McCarthy: “I don't know. You'd have to ask President Biden.” Today, 4:30 "House Republicans do not need President Biden to mediate a resolution among House Republicans." - White House official to Semafor on McCarthy today asking for meeting with Biden to avert a government shutdown
McCarthy is a buffoon.
No, McCarthy did one thing that was very clever. I heard he directly tied together Ukraine funding to Border policy (one thing the Dems want and one thing the Right wants). This will call-out and separate who in his party he can work, with versus the ones most likely under Russian influence who are just trying to undermine the government (ex. my guess is folks like Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-GA, Rep. Michael Cloud, R-TX, Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-FL, Sen. Josh Hawley, R-MO and Abigail Jackson, the communications director, Former Rep. Mayra Flores, R-TX, Former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, D-HI, etc.). I believe Russia will do anything and everything to undermine the US and win in Ukraine, so is leaning on anyone it can influence right now. I think it's the perfect time to lure out the problem children with the sorting hat.
