But let's continue to act like abortion services is about evil slutty women... Our society makes no sense. Two parent households are better, but we're going to force you have this baby and become a single mother (leaving the father off the hook entirely as we continue to deride single mothers as the problem) and then we're going to shame you for it by conducting a study that says you've done parenthood all wrong, when you may not have wanted to do it at all.
First of all, no women are "being forced to have a baby." Free and subsidized birth control is available, abstinence is available, the abortion pill is available and yes, there are very few women who do not have the means to take a Greyhound bus to the next state. For the few who can't, you can donate to a non profit to pay for it. People need to be taught that there are consequences to their actions. When 70% of black children are born out-of-wedlock, there is something wrong. Women are not victims; they are making choices. And the choices that they are making are keeping themselves and their children in reduced circumstances.
Abstinence doesn’t help you if you are raped. Republicans want to ban the abortion pill too. The cost of going to another state is not just a bus ticket, it is multiple days lost at work and potentially a hotel stay because many states have multi day waiting periods.
While this is true, the % of children born to single parents as a result of rape is an extremely small number.
5% of rape victims become pregnant. 50% abort, 36% have the baby, the rest miscarry.
So, an extreme minority of babies born each year are from rape. The majority are born to single mothers by choice.
If single mothers by choice are a majority why do they never seem to show up in statistics and studies? Even this research seems focused on single parents who are divorced/widowed/abandoned by the father of their child which is a different dynamic that women who set out to be single mothers.
Studies show over 70 percent of Black infants are born to unmarried mothers. They are choosing to have children while not married. That is a single mother by choice.
How did you get so ingnorant?
