If you don't like NCS, leave, or don't apply. I hate it when parents complain about the school my kids attend. There is some valid criticism, but most is gossipy and annoying. I told one parent they should go elsewhere if they are so unhappy.
I don't understand the idea of slamming the door behind you. I have known families with kids who were unhappy with just about every private school in the area. I know of a family where a child was bullied terribly at a school known for having a nice, nurturing atmosphere. I have known families of kids with mild special needs who sent them to schools that simply couldn't accommodate their needs, leading them to feel betrayed by the schools. I know of families who have sent their kids to well-regarded schools only to have them in a classroom with a teacher who should have retired long before. And at every one of these schools I have known families that were incredibly happy. The fit is everything. So if you had an unhappy experience, what is the point of coming on these boards and trying to convince everyone else the school is a terrible place. You know, because your child was there, that many other families are happy. Its one thing to say "my child is not at all athletic and felt left out at X school." Thats useful information. if you have an unathletic child you might ask others about this (no one should ever take the word of a DCUM post alone) to make sure its a good fit. But to post "X is a terrible school. X has seen better days. We hate X." Whats the point of that? It screams of an agenda, of some kind of bitterness.
Look, the bottom line here is taht NCS is not what it used to be. Everyone knows it and the PP is only kidding herself if she thinks otjerwise. There are a number of reasons behind this fact but it isi what it is. Just deal with it and move on. Do agree that if prsent parents do not like the school (and there are a lot of them....), they should do themselves a favor and leave. But, the point of t theae boards is to voice interesting thoughts and information. Yes, its gossipy IN SOME CASES. But, in other cases, (such as the present) it is the truth..the readers just don't want to accept ithe truth.
