Target partnered with a literal Satanist to create Pride merchandise marketed for children. Why that’s not a major media story is absolutely beyond me.
[twitter]https://twitter.com/brianbabinski/status/1661807481281019905?s=46&t=kf1qYlCXQnKgUhJWEIu2vg[/twitter]
The Satanist is not a distributor. The Satanist is a designer that Target partnered with. The Satanist who designed the “Satan respects pronouns” shirt is the same designer Target selected to create merchandise for this year’s pride campaign. Your friend in that video is misrepresenting the relationship that Target has with the Satanist.
You are creating an issue out of nothing. This is why people, especially the younger generations, are not voting for republicans and becoming less religious. Target is not selling any Satanic-themed clothing in its stores, not to adults, and certainly not to children. The designer behind the merchandise is also not a "Satanist" and says the t-shirt was created to be campy and satirical-something the right-wing has shown they cannot understand. https://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/target-pride-collection-abprallen-satan-b2345220.html And FWIW, the artist has been inundated with requests from others to buy their merchandise. Congratulations, you look like a damn fool.
Target has lost $9B in market cap since this issue broke. Your problem is that you think people have to be religious ans hard right to think it's demented to dress babies as Satanic trans activists. As long as the left continues to talk about people who cringe at or are repulsed by this kind of stuff like they are evangelicals, they will continue to alienate people. The evangelical hard right does not to $9B worth of damage. This is the mainstream who is like, hey I'm good with LGBTQ stuff but I draw the line at satanic trans babies.
Honestly, PP, this "satanic" stuff is so normie now that it's almost too basic. It's tongue in cheek. It's the tiniest bit salty. You sound like Church Lady - it's just crazy out of touch.
Ok, give us your explanation of the $9B loss in market cap. Go on.
Do you realize how the stock market works? Target stock is actually trending up this morning.
[twitter]https://twitter.com/bennyjohnson/status/1662171596247711745[/twitter]
So just FYI, Benny Johnson is a perfect example of someone who is SO interesting and fun for people who are Very Online -a and just doesn't exist outside of the Very Online world. If you're citing Benny Johnson, you're in a weird little MAGA loop. But, as we keep saying - the more you stay in this strange little padded walls universe talking to each other and sure you're speaking to and for everyone, the less your chances of winning elections. Not no chance - I'll never be that cocky - but you lessen the chances for sure.
You folks love to slam the messenger even when he is presenting facts. Do a search. https://nypost.com/2023/05/25/target-loses-8b-in-week-since-boycott-calls-over-pride-collection/ https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/target-stock-loses-9-billion-pride-collection
We get it. You hate gay people and think they should be hidden away so you don't have to think about them. Well guess what. Gay people exist. They are human beings just like you are. And they have a right to exist and to live their lives. So what if there is merchandise geared toward them. Completely insane to be losing your sh!t because there's merchandise connected to the LGBTQ community. WTF. There's also merchandise geared toward hunters. And Disney lovers. And left-handers - does that freak you out? Left-handers are outliers, too.
Most people had no issues with gay people and fully supported their rights until the TQ latched onto the LGB and there was a big shift in the direction of the movement. Now nearly 20% of Gen Z identity as LGBQT which is unheard of in earlier generations. Transgender people used to be extremely rare but it has sky rocketed over the past 5 years especially among teenage girls. You have to be an idiot to believe there is no social contagion going on. Males are now competing in women's sports and winning women's awards, ridiculous sayings like uterus havers, pronouns in bios. Companies are creating LGBQT merchandise geared specifically for kids including babies and parents are sick of their kids constantly being exposed to this stuff. There are plenty of gay people who are fed up with what has happened to their community as well with some suggesting the LGB separate from the TQ. When the pendulum swings too far in one direction it will inevitably swing back the other way.
You claim there are no issues with gay people and then in the next sentence express your alarm that the number of gay people seems to be growing. If you have no issues with gay people why would it bother you that there are seemingly more of them?
DP. But the pp clearly doesn't have an issue with gay people, they have an issue with TQ. And that makes sense because the expansion of TQ does substantively change rights for various groups, notably female athletes and prisoners. So it's perfectly logical that many people who are in favor of gay rights would balk at the existence of more and more trans people. Right now, trans athletes and prisoners are relatively rare. But soon they will be 1 in 5, and women will have different rights and opportunities than they used to enjoy.
NP. Agreed. Gay rights are accretive to society; we all are better for gay rights and nobody is hurt by gay rights. Trans rights in contrast strip women of their own hard-fought rights. Gay rights and trans rights are not the same, and people see that.
