I'm unclear what DFER even wanted in Ward 3 specifically. There are no charter schools here! I'm not sure why there aren't, but they just aren't here!
They wanted a bought councilmember who would support their agenda.
I’d rather have a council member give fair consideration to charters (attended by 55% of DC kids in public-funded schools) than bought and paid for by the DC “Smart Growth” developers lobby.
When you can show proof of the DC "Smart Growth" developers lobby having supported Frumin's campaign, then I will give you credence. A review of Goulet's donor list shows a who's who of developers and lobbyists.
The progressives were mostly Finley donors. Frumin mostly got the median DC W3 voter in Glover Park and AU Park, where he piled up pretty substantial margins. These are families that tend to heavily use DCPS or would like to. Frumin isn't a classic NIMBY or YIMBY, he seems pretty middle of the road by DC standards. Overall he is kinda boring, he'll fit W3 well. I really wonder which way the elections would have played out if DFER didn't interfere. I think Goulet would have won on a classic law-and-order message, but they ended up consolidating the moderates behind frumin.
