A lot of marriages end up with one spouse being like that.

I got divorced after 16 years , and in fact it was my American exH who turned out abusive, cheated, screamed at me, lied etc. I know a case when a young  wife was shot dead by exH after she moved out from their house. There are many more cases when women are abused vs men being abused. Being foreign in a country without social support or protections is very difficult. It doesn’t change the fact that a very specific type of a woman would ever marry abroad: usually strong willed and with excellent problem solving and life skills [/quote]
