She seems to be saying Blacks were successful after the Civil War. Many apparently succeeded despite not receiving handouts. At some point, this success attracted the wrong sort of attention, IMHO. [/quote]

It wasn't a race riot. It was a massacre - of black people and black businesses. The facts of what happened are pretty clear. Just because crazy Winsome Sears says otherwise doesn't make it true.
