I don't know who Smelkinson is, but if they're for masking, I'm a supporter.  Masking is one of the few proactive anti-covid measures available and one of the reasons why Montgomery County has been successful in keeping it's covid rate down.  It's one of the few things MCPS has done right.  Make no mistake - attempting to remove masking prior to cold and flu season (e.g. prior to Spring Break), is of ill-intent and dangerous for the children and their families.

What does cold and flu season have to do with it? The masks are to reduce/prevent transmission of SARS-CoV-2, which causes covid. Not other coronaviruses, not rhinoviruses, not adenoviruses, not influenza viruses. [/quote]
