https://www.nytimes.com/2021/06/22/arts/music/britney-spears-conservatorship.html?action=click&module=Top%20Stories&pgtype=Homepage I saw this article today and, given Britney will be in court tomorrow, I thought now might be a good time to discuss. The main takeaway from the article is that a slew of court documents related to her case give credence to the suggestion in "Framing Britney Spears" that Britney wants her conservatorship terminated and absolutely does not want her father in charge of her life and finances. I have long thought her father was quite shady and "Framing Britney Spears" did nothing to disabuse me of that notion. From the NYT article, I found this quote particularly troubling: Through a lawyer, she called the father-daughter relationship “toxic” and said it was “time to start fresh,” adding that Mr. Spears had referred to his daughter as “a racehorse who has to be handled like one.”
