Sure, but who is monitoring this?  Our rescue dog is almost certainly part pit, but the paperwork from the rescue says otherwise, and the dog is registered with the county as the mix the rescue told us she was.  No one is coming around to check.[/quote]

I do not support going into homes and taking pets from people, as much as I dislike pitbulls. But force the rescues, shelters, and breeders to be honest about what they are putting into our communities. The rescues and shelters know what a pitbull is. I have never seen a shelter/rescue accidentally mislabel a purebred lab or shepherd, or doberman, or any other breed as a pitbull. The only time this "accident" happens is when the resucue is trying to hide a bully breed. This is wrong! As for breeders, no one should be breeding these dangerous bully breeds, especially in a crowded city where children and other animals are so vulnerable. Hold the sources for these dogs accountable, then maybe they will acknowledge what type of dogs they have and then be more careful about what they place into our neighborhoods. [/quote]
