But several things are at play here: mental illness is still very much maligned, many families are still basically toxic and teach maladaptive strategies to living. Misogyny continues to be taught in families, for one thing, and without that piece of the puzzle, it’s unlikely this guy would have gone after people he wrongly faulted for his sex addiction. But let’s not forget that the the GOP does not want us to talk about gun violence. If it’s just some crazy guy, that absolves them of their support for gun violence, misogyny and racism.
