Some news outlets chose to characterize the casting as colorblind despite direct statements that casting was deliberate and meaningful. I think because it is easy to dismiss colorblind casting as a mistake or political correctness taken too far, but if they have to acknowledge that the casting was to tell an alternative reality, there’s no reason except racism to object to it.
