All of the changes from “solid Republican” to “lean Republican” is great and all, but it feels like not enough.
Not enough? The House is pretty safe. If probably always will be. The GOP is a shrinking minority of America.
I know that they haven’t redistricted anything this go round, but I’d like to see the gerrymandered states redistricted by computer. And I just don’t trust that the GOP doesn’t have some new horrible way to cheat. They always find newer, more horrible ways to disenfranchise or otherwise rob people of their vote.
North Carolina was independently redistricted for this cycle and will result in at least two Democratic pickups.
Sorry, I did know about that one and forgot. But Ohio and states like that? There’s still a metric heck ton of gerrymandering that means that Democrats will still likely be underrepresented, even though we have the House.
Yup, Ohio, Wisconsin and Texas just off the top of my head are huge problems - that’s why flipping state legislatures - or at least breaking supermajorities - is so important in this census year. More on that here - https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/900657.page
And don't forget Maryland, one of the most gerrymandered States in the country (in favor of Democrats) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maryland%27s_congressional_districts
