Again, PP is referring back to an interview of Omeish on “Reston Impact,” a local cable show, in 2019, where an old white interviewer from Reston complained about Langley’s boundaries and, in particular, the fact that some upper-income pockets of Herndon and Reston with kids are assigned to Langley.  He called those kids “the cream of the crop” and also called Langley “lily white.”  Omeish didn’t challenge his statements and responded, in part, by stating that the School Board should be more cognizant of demographic imbalances, including the number of immigrant families, at various schools.  She also agreed with the suggestion that some kids pupil place to avoid certain schools, and said she welcomed a discussion about prioritizing equity when considering boundary changes.

The interviewer from Reston also alluded to the overcrowding at McLean, which he opined “has some diversity,” and the under-enrollment at Langley, which he asserted has “no diversity.”  Omeish acknowledged some McLean families were upset with the overcrowding, but beyond that didn’t really comment on what she’d favor when it came to boundary adjustments involving either school.

The guy clearly had a major bone to pick with Langley, and she didn’t challenge his most inaccurate comments. But the comments that really seem to bother PP came out of the mouth of the Reston dude, not Omeish.  But I think PP has other issues with Omeish besides her views about boundaries, which PP will probably not come out and admit.
