Prior poster, I think GBRS, whole previous package is included in the appeal...but I could be wrong. I appealed last year (our GBRS was 9 last year), without WISC, just new letters, and new work samples, and was denied. This year, I parent referred with no new test scores. New letters, some writing samples, etc. New GBRS was 11 this year (new teacher in 3rd grade), they still used last year's scores, and my ds was accepted. Our GBRS did increase by 2, from 9 to 11. I thought the general consensus here was a 12 GBRS was needed, probably higher if test scores are not already in the pool (we were in the pool last year). After requesting, and looking at the file last year from our AART, I was pretty certain the GBRS along with a really poor work sample submitted by the school (IMO, not typical work for my ds) kept him out. Some things you can include if you choose to appeal are letters (we used family members, piano teacher, religion teacher, coach), and work samples. In particular, I think strong writing samples were recommended by our AART. If your AART is helpful, you can ask what other ideas they have. Highlight your child's strengths. I included the text to a song my ds wrote (he sang the tune, but I had him type the words up as our submission).
