Many of the parents whose kids don't start or play a lot are fine with it and just happy to be on the team/have the chance to improve. But there are always parents who think their kid is better than some of the starters and it drives them insane. This type of parent is always going to side with whatever coach tells them what they want to hear, which is that their kid is awesome and ought to be promoted over the kids they think are less deserving.
