per CBO: Trump ending subsidies increases premiums: 20% by 2018 25% by 2020 Deficit goes up $6b by 2018 and $21b by 2020,
But premiums were going up at that rate anyway.
At 20% a year?? Name the plan and state, please.
Virginia. Mine went up 17% in July
Just like America’s pricey waistline.
Before Obamacare, we paid a total of 700/mo. Now that goal is 2700/mo
I paid $400 for an individual plan before Obamacare, and now pay more than $800. But that's for a plan with twice the deductible. If I wanted a plan comparable to the $400 plan, it was $1080. Almost tripled in three years!
Many supporters of Obamacare don't seem to realize that it has negatively affected millions of Americans' lives. While it helped some, it has absolutely hurt others.
I have discovered that liberals in this area, with their $200k+ incomes, are oblivious to how difficult it is for a $50k earner to pay $800 a month in insurance. They seem to have divided people into two camps - the poor people who are entitled to 100% support - and everyone else, who can afford to make sacrifices in order to support themselves.
I think this is a good point. Perhaps it's because they exist in a bubble where you don't tend to see a lot of lower middle class Americans.
It's not just that they don't see a lot of lower-middle income Americans. They assume they everyone has plenty of money like they do. I remarked to my neighbor -a retired GS 15 who now has a big pension AND is contracting back with the government for more than he was earning as a fed - that my costs have skyrocketed and I now have to pay everything out-of-pocket for all my medical care. He snipped, "yeah, but YOU can afford it." and I wondered....how does he know what I can afford? I bought this condo 20 years ago when I was earning $60,000 a year. He is just assuming that I am an affluent person like himself, for whom a $3,000 unexpected medical bill means nothing. He did not know that I cancelled my vacation as a result of that unexpected expense, and I had too much pride to tell him. All he does is say how "WE" (he, who has a government medical plan) can afford to pay a bit more to make sure the poor get medical care for free.
