I'm not weighing in on either side of this, but I always smash my hard-drives when I decommission a computer.  Don't want the least risk that anything of a personal nature (e-mails, financial information etc) could be recovered if I sold or gave away the hardware.

DP - The FBI has the ability to get data from smashed hard drives.  Bleachbit hard drives, not so much.[/quote]
