SR parent here with DD that plays lax. I’ve never seen her late for a game. Maybe a few minutes late for warmups but I don’t think that’s being discussed here. She does yell and I don’t have an issue with it. The girls listen to her. I don’t know how she would rank against her peers as a coach. I think that would be a function of getting a team of girls who don’t play together in club to play well together in between club seasons. HS coaches largely get handed a team of girls they don’t get to completely choose. I’ve never thought the good counsel coach was a genius but he manages to do well with his teams.
I am a parent too. This year, she missed the Episcopal game. The day before her daughter fell and got stitches, so that meant miss a game 24 hours later. She also showed up 10 minutes before the Potomac game. The game Potomac smacked us around. Last year, she went on a trip to Italy during the season with her family. Don’t worry, she’s had the captains in charge of running practice that week. She also won the ISL both years. Those are facts, not opinions.
What if a player at SR did this or player’s family?
I'm 1000% sure KM didn't pull Salty Mom aside and let her know all the details of her daughter's condition and what she felt she had to do. They won that game 16-2, btw. There's also only one opportunity in 2024 she could've split for Italy in 2024 without missing games. Late March to early April, which coincidentally is when SR was on spring break. They played a game a day after spring break started, then 10 days later school started back up again and then SR played 2 days later. Many areas and schools don't allow for competition or coach-led practices for large chunks of spring break, don't know about SR. But IMO these breaks mid-season are good, and of course Salty Mom is tossing a one-sided story without background to try to make KM look worse. Salty Mom is just salty and now regrets decisions she's made over the last # of years, and that things are not working out like she thought they would.
