Ivy and Tessa's parents met through mutual friends. The friends were in grad school for International Relations and had a cool row house.  They had a party one night and these two lovebirds found each other and have been inseparable since. She loves Nancy Drew and Encyclopedia Brown.  She's totally old school.  She really wants a tree house and dad has promised to take her to the local library to research building one. (Again, totally old school).  
Tess, as her favorite teacher nicknamed her recently, is all about socializing.  She likes having friends over and is planning a Roxaboxen party just like her favorite picyure book by the same name.

The girls love the family tradition of going to see the Nutcracker ballet at Christmas time.[/quote]
