Here’s my top 10 for 21-22. I did the same thing last year and was spot on. Only underestimated PVI and The Heights. 1. SJC - Pretty self explanatory. They are graduating almost no one and keep on bringing in new transfers. Expect this team to be ranked #1 nationally. 2. Prep - Rising Junior class is filthy; filled with DC Dogs players and they still have their star FOGO. 3. Bullis- Junior class is just as strong as Prep’s, but don’t have the 22’s and 24’s to match them. 4. PVI- Big time Senior class, but they graduated a STUD goalie. See them as the only WCAC team that can upset SJC. 5. Landon- Best ‘24 class in the area, but they will only be Sophomores. Not enough to carry Landon past the top IAC opponents. 6. Gonzaga- Dissapointing year for Gonzaga, but they have some strong rising seniors, and are very well coached. 7. St. Stephen’s- Top Attackman going into his senior year who will carry SSSAS to 3-4 IAC wins. BIG GAP HERE BETWEEN TEAMS 1-7 AND THOSE 8-10 8. Heights- Relatively impressive 2021 season, almost knocked off PVI and DM. Graduated little talent, and have the best goalie in the area. 9. DeMatha- Graduated all 10 of their starters plus most of their top backups. Big hire with Dave Mitchell, but the program lost too much this year to retain its stance as 2nd in the WCAC. 10. Albans- Strong ‘23 class as well with maybe the top LSM in the area. Their FOGO is great too. Let’s see what Heeter can do with this new talent.
Agree with most, except for your points for #10. STA's 2023 class is the strongest they have had in years, but that is not saying much compared to other top programs in the DMV. They may have 5 or 6 decent players, but other top schools have double those numbers. Not to mention the talent falls off dramatically after those top players. Their 2021 class only had one college commit and the 2022s don't have any. Their 2023 fogo was pretty good, but got injured half way though the season and did not return. Also, their LSM is overrated and definitely not the #1 LSM in the area. That title goes to Prep's 2023 LSM who is light years ahead of STA's LSM. Their talent and athleticism is not even comparable and some would argue there are other stronger LSMs in the DMV who deserve higher ranking than STAs.
SJ keeps bringing in transfers? Name one besides the 2023 face off midfielder and his 2024 brother.
