I'm guessing your three are mid to late 20s and you wrote their names in birth order?

Caucasian family, been in the US for generations, both sides. If you must claim an ancestry, you say Irish and Scandinavian, hence Kelly and Erik. Mom, you are Irish and DH is Scandinavian. Each name chosen simply because you both could agree.  There's not really special significance behind your children's names; all are simple, easy to spell, pronounce and understand. Perhaps you have a very unusual surname that's not so simple? Each first name nicely balances out the surname.

I'll tell you that you do NOT have a -son surname, like Hendriksen.  Why? Because you would never have a Ja-son Gunnerson, for instance.

More ideas:

Kelly and/or Erik selected Jason's name.  I think Kelly and Erik are about two years apart and Jason was born about 6-7 years after Erik.  Kelly likely knew of many Jasons in her age group and to her, perhaps subconsciously, Jason was a "cool and cute" boys' name.

You and DH are low-key, quiet types. Perhaps academics or CPAs. You like schedules, balance, order, quiet and simplicity.  I envision one or both government contractors or govt careerists. You made a beautiful and comfortable home for your family and are struggling with the idea of moving out of your beloved homestead as retirement looms. You are great neighbors - unassuming, friendly, but vastly prefer being together (sharing a home office, cooking, even running errands) over throwing neighborhood happy hours. You and DH are kindred spirits and really have to make an effort to socialize with others.

Please submit feedback, Kelly/Erik/Jason OP!  When I've done these in the past, I tend to "channel" and visualize the family.  Know it's a labor of love.

I’m this OP. You were right about birth order and general age (oldest is mid 20s and youngest are 21 yo twins). You got DH and me spot on - both the children of academics and DH is a banker, but you got heritage all wrong, DH is British and moved to the US as a teen, whereas I’m of Portuguese and Russian descent. Happy to know you, OP! Thanks for the response! I feel like I know you...that's the "vibe" I get when I focus on the names. I just got this really strong feeling about you and DH being a very loving, devoted couple.  And, I didn't think of myself as an intuitive type. Maybe I should.
