Check the updated coaching slate for spring on the FVU website. Strong coaching has been added.
ok and what about field space for practice and a responsive punctual front office. What commitments do they have. That coach is an awesome addition but how does the overall package compare? Bandaid is a bandaid. They have a lot to fix.
No question they have a lot to fix but two years straight of major changes have been tough. If you’re coming from McLean and you are evaluating coaching assignments, do you really believe the McLean AGD, that will most certainly be the u13 coach, is a better option than whoever Union chooses? I think Union could choose DB again and it would still be a better option.
Yes, of course. Union is recurring drama (for years, not just the last month) and offers little in terms of stability. Since college recruiting doesn't happen at u13 or u14, why would a family choose chaos over a coach that has a great local reputation (though not a regional/national reputation)? Would a 2014 parent look at the DB situation with the 2013 Union team and say 'yeah, i want more of that!!'? And even at the older ages, where is the stability and confidence that Union is trending in the right direction? CW is great, but he's not coaching every team and who knows when he'll retire. I know Valor dad is excited about Union, but I haven't heard parents from other Union feeder clubs (in person or on this forum) that are excited about Union in terms of being a long-term destination. And if you were on MYS and wanted to get on a "better" team at the 2014 age group, your options are either Arlington (probably the best team in the area) or Loudoun. VDA might be a good long-term option, but they're not that strong right now... Those options seem much more obvious than taking a risk with Union.
Correction -- Union is excited about Valor! Everyone here has been saying that the alliance does not matter, but internals seem otherwise. Also, who outside the alliance would come to Union -- it's a complete clown show. Valor is the only alliance club for 2014 that has a chance to Make Union Great Again! I think I even saw MV wearing a MUGA hat.
