The McLean 2014’s are not the same quality as the 2013 McLean group that went to FVU. I think they would need to combine with other kids in ffx county to be competitive and I don’t think many from the outside will look to go to McLean. They are no longer a destination club.
No one's as good as the (former) MYS 2013s, so that's an odd comparison. But the 2014 and 2015 girls teams along with the 2016 boys teams are definitely attracting local talent. So clearly some outside families are looking at MYS as a destination club for these age groups. Long-term, that's probably a good sign for the girls side but unclear on the boys side since they don't have top MLS option.
No one is as good as the former MYS 2013's because much of that team was recruited. Maybe the younger groups have some outside players, but the quality is not the same as before. To be fair, most clubs cannot recruit like that in this environment where every neighborhood has a pathway to something. But the ECNL clubs are proving to still be the main consolidators of top talent. People said the 2011's may choose one or the other but that the 2012's would be the start of the GA revolution. Top players from 2011's all chose ECNL. The 2012's players from NVA and Alexandria have begun their migration over and it sounds like the SYC players will do the same for next year. The best group of 2013's already chose ECNL and I imagine players from the GA teams will also begin to migrate. The GA revolution was alive for a brief moment only in the minds of parents with u-littles who are going through this for the first time.
