Overall, they do a decent job. It's a great place to play competitive soccer. Very serious talent typically goes elsewhere after age 12 or so.
It’s an okay place to get to play travel soccer with kids that live near you and coaches that seem like nice guys. They have a full professional staff model and talk a good game, but the actual coaching and development is poor. The sessions (at least on the younger girls side) are basically babysitting dressed up to look like soccer.
I know that every kid wants to be a professional player and every parent wants their kid to get a full ride to a good D1 school, but I try to maintain a little prospective on the likelihood and the value of each of those things. Our reason to stay will always be playing locally and with friends rather than driving all over NOVA in search of the best possible team. As long as VYS (or any other local club for that matter) is good enough, then I believe playing locally provides the best overall experience for kids and families. We'll always give our DD the choice, but so far her team been successful, coaching is good, and the kids and families have been great. She's happy and we're happy.
