I completely disagree.  I think there have been so many complaints about centers and their complete redundancy that the SB has certainly talked about this issue.  How could they not?[/quote]

The AAP Center MS issue should be addressed as part of a comprehensive boundary review.  There is zero reason taxpayers should be funding 2 buses running through the same neighborhoods.   And Level iv went in at random- no big plan divisionwide.

FCPS budget questions and responses 2026 are NO longer available online.  Dunne asked about the cost of establishing AAP at Whitman and was told zero.  26 middle schools and 4 have in boundary only AAP:  Longfellow, Cooper, South County, Fairfax's Johnson.

FCPS has streets located off Hunter Mill RD near Sunrise Valley ES with this feed- Oakton ES, Thoreau, Madison.  AAP Sunrise Valley and AAP Jackson.  This is the kind of junk we all pay for...

In the case of a new school, I am pretty sure that it might not open with a senior class.  Not sure what Fairfax does.  Does anyone remember when South County opened?  Westfield?

As for the IB issue raised by PP, I am confident they would address that.  (Another reason to eliminate IB.)  In the case of KAA, I'm not sure any South Lakes kids will be assigned there, in any case.[/quote]

I did a little digging into Westfield opening in 2000.  At the time it opened it drew from Centreville, Chantilly, and Oakton, and the boundaries of Fairfax and Robinson were also adjusted.

Rising seniors at Centreville, Chantilly, and Oakton were grandfathered, so Westfield opened as a 9-11 school.  Apparently rising 11th graders were given an option to attend Westfield or stay at their current schools the year Westfield opened, but that option was contingent on at least 300 students from Centreville, Chantilly, and Oakton opting to attend Westfield.  If fewer than 300 rising 11th graders from the three schools agreed to attend Westfield, the option was to be voided with all rising 11th graders required to attend Westfield.  Basically, they wanted to make sure Westfield had at least 300 juniors when it opened. [/quote] Sounds like a reasonable policy. [/quote]
