Yes, the implementation and interpretation of the Common Core standards by the New York Education Department is widely agreed to have been terrible.

Nonetheless, the New York state teachers' union could have withdrawn its support for the Common Core standards, period, without the qualification about the implementation and interpretation by the New York Education Department. And yet they didn't. Why didn't they? (I really hope that nobody answers this question with, "Because they were paid off by the Gates Foundation." Some people are seriously fixated on the evilness of Bill Gates.)[/quote]
