The SSSAS 27 class will be stronger than the 25 class that they are losing. and they are the only team in the ISL top 4 at least that can say that. SR has the strongest 27 class but they aren't as strong as the 25 class they are losing, damn close though.
Only one 27 gets any real playing time and has an impact. Won’t change next year.
A 2027 sometimes starter for Potomac scored the tying goal to send them to overtime vs STAB - thats impact.
She would have never seen the field at SSSAS - I'm sure she is thrilled to be at Potomac
That is true and awesome for her - she made an impact in a championship game! The point is to not undervalue a kid on limited minutes.
Too bad SSSA overlooks so much talent. Feel bad for 27s, 28s and 29s. Maybe a good lesson to transfer and look for opportunities elsewhere.
Or they stay and fight for their spot - I'm not going to besmirch any player for transferring because it's not my kid and it's none of my business. I will congratulate her though for making that decision and adding value to her team. As many have noted high school lacrosse has little affect on recruiting, with the exception of one high school coach in the DMV. So the challenge of of getting time on the field and having a powerful advocate in recruiting may play more of an important role than high school playing time. Each kids situation is different and we should show at a minumum a bit of respect to the choices of a family for what they believe is best for their child.
If high school has so little affect on recruiting why is it so important to players to be on varsity four years? Why do they note it on their profiles? Why would a prospective coach trying to recruit a transfer or get a kid to stay with a program commit to putting a kid on varsity if high school program isn’t important? If my kid transfers high schools there’s no way I’m going without a commitment they are in varsity, a starter etc. This happens all the time. And it’s already been noted that playing time in the spring impacts how ready you are for summer tournaments.
Some of the top 27s in the country are on high schools that are ranked like 1,700. Each situation is different
