[twitter]https://twitter.com/mattyglesias/status/1618593529114275842[/twitter]
Republicans have nothing else, so they just lie their asses off. And apparently their base is too stupid to figure it out.
[twitter]https://twitter.com/JohnArnoldFndtn/status/1618598345991417857[/twitter] The SPR is intended to use during times of emergencies - weather emergencies, war, etc. It was not designed to be used to lower the price of gas because your administration has an inept energy policy. Trump refilled the SPR at $40/barrel. And, he wanted to top it off, but Democrats blocked him. https://rollcall.com/2020/03/25/oil-purchase-to-fill-strategic-reserve-dropped-from-stimulus/ Biden has not indicated WHEN he plans to replace the oil he has tapped to cover for his horrible policies. And, you can bet that it won't be $40/barrel when and if he does. [twitter]https://twitter.com/JohnArnoldFndtn/status/1618598345991417857[/twitter]
Can you cite where it specifically says a supply emergency doesn't qualify as an emergency? Also, with regard to "inept energy policy" the Biden administration has been issuing more permits than the Trump administration was, and is on track to increase production higher than it was when Trump left office. So you're quite off base with your hysterical talking points.
Issuing permits is simply one step in the production of energy.......
The president suggested the onus is on the industry to start drilling. But it’s not as simple as Biden made it seem, because there are some steps before companies begin production. Companies have to contract rigs to drill the wells, and build a sufficient inventory of permits before rigs are contracted, said Jennifer Pett, a spokesperson for the Independent Petroleum Association of America, a trade group that represents oil and natural gas producers. "Producers also have to put a drilling plan together, secure rights of way and work with state and private landowners," Pett said. Thousands of unused permits are not uncommon in any presidential administration. Douglas Holtz-Eakin, an economist and president of the American Action Forum, a center-right think tank, said firms are trying to assess the durability of the global rebound. "They have to be sure that the costly investment (and time) that it takes to turn a lease into a producing well is worth it."
https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2022/mar/09/joe-biden/fact-checking-bidens-claim-there-are-9000-unused-o/ Biden has stated in unequivocal terms many times that he intends to get rid of fossil fuels. Why in the hell would companies invest billions when this is the administration's intent?
