Another PP here.  I do not know about Alabama but I am from Mississippi and I am not sure you know much about the South and small towns in general.  In my small hometown, a lot of the powerful guys in town had power over whether people got jobs, loans, whether your son went to jail, etc.  No one wanted to be on the bad side of judges or DA's.  I saw people turn their heads to some awful stuff because they did not want to take on the some of these guys. [/quote]
