Look at their results from last year and you can figure out why. They started off great, beating m&d and mdu, but then they played a horrible bunch of nobodies and then were getting smoked by good teams later on in the season. Talented squad, will still be highly ranked, but they will not be #4 by the end of the fall.[/quote]

There will be a new rating this year, and it will just be as accurate as the math permits. ES was ranked 4th last year because of a mostly crap schedule that allowed them to pile on wins and goal differential. As the year progressed they started losing against good teams, sometimes badly. So you could say that they were overrated last year for sure.

Here you go: 
-ES finished 4th last year
-4th in the country is considered to be good, as it is a high ranking (rating)
-ES was able to maintain this ranking despite having a bad summer and getting beat by almost every decent team they played
-How was this accomplished? By also playing teams no one has heard of and running up the score. Teams like #90 shipyard, #46 Team one wildcat, or the #91 true ballers. 
-The algo is the best we’ve got, but definitely not perfect. Given the facts above and the overall trajectory of that team, one could easily say they are too highly ranked, as in overrated. [/quote]

It looks like the three games with #90 shipyard (no data), #46 Team one wildcat (+2.50), and #91 true ballers (-3.33) actually made the ES rating slightly worse.  Any other ideas?

The ES rating may be misstated because there are a bunch of games that are not counting towards the rating math.  I don't know why that is, nor have I done the math, but it could change their rating, either positively or negatively.  If the updated math showed their rating should have been lower then it would be accurate to suggest they were overrated last year.  [/quote]
