Because Brian is an anti- social psycho who thinks he is superior to most of the human race - if not all of us, which is why he murdered Gabby when she likely made a threat to leave him and he couldn’t accept failing at their relationship ( killing someone is a way psychos try to possess their victim forever )

Brian always wanted to walk barefoot off into the wilderness- Gabby wanted him home for dinner and to smile for the IG photos - that was the problem

Sooner or later the fact that he is a failure as a human being will confront him either when he starves or freezes to death or when some other psycho shoots him in the back of the head
