They are not fellow atheists.  They are despots, irrespective of religion. - Their actions  against humanity, which were not done in the name of their religious views, can't be defended.  [/quote]

Atheist despots are evil to promote their own ends.   Religious despots do it for the Glory of God - and with God's blessing, at least in their minds. It's hard to know if God actually approves of despotism, because he doesn't speak out about it.  But if a Christian despot wins, they assume that is God's way of voicing his approval.    [/quote]

Any despot is going against basic human decency.  The difference with religious despotism is that the despot uses  God  as an excuse for bad behavior.[/quote]
