I read your other thread and, while we are all dying laughing over your delicious sandwich recipe, I just want to say that I think you're one of those quirky cool people in real life. Don't take our seizing onto your recipe as a reflection that you shouldn't try to be social and make new friends! But I do think you may be missing a few social cues that I hope you learned from this thread - including the faux pas of bringing fish to the office and/or coming to the office smelling like fish!
+1. Being serious for a moment, I think it was the combination of already running late and taking something everyday like tuna, spam, Bologna etc. and taking the time to spice it up, pun intended. There is nothing wrong with bringing Tuna for lunch provided you aren't in close quarters with your co-workers and your lunch has a strong smell. I went back and read the original thread and really hope you and your DH can find a compromise on where to live. I'm one of those people that lived in the suburbs pre-kids and never wanted to live in the city. I also didn't want a super long commute. Luckily my DH felt the same. As PPs uggested maybe one of the planned walkable places like renting in the Kentlands, Rockville town center, etc would work for you or being someplace suburban that is close to a mini-downtown area. I lived off Little River Turnpike in Annandale (in Pinecrest for awhile ) so I could easily get to Arlington, Old Town, and DC but felt like I was in the burbs and had the peace and quiet at home and none of the inconveniences of living in Old Town, Arlington, or DC. Once you work on the other areas like the commute, the mornings won't seem as awful when things go wrong like oversleeping.
