That is news to Murch; we were told it was off the table because Lafayette might not be done in time for Murch to move in. Where is the rumor coming from?
DGS sent an email to the Lafayette community on Friday afternoon announcing that it was going to be discussed on the Tuesday meeting. No one has told the Lafayette community that its renovation might not be done in time -- if that's what they are telling the Murch community, it would be good to let Lafayette know. I agree that the transportation issues could be resolved with busses. However, right now the space where Lafayette's new school playground is going to go is where the cafeteria/gym tent is. So with no school playground, all 1400 kids will be sharing the park playground. That doesn't seem very safe. Also, I'd be interested to hear evacuation plans. Lafayette's current plan is to evacuate to Blessed Sacrament in case of an emergency; can Blessed Sacrament also handle 700 Murch students? How would after care work? Is there room for aftercare for both schools? Is the pumping in the trailers sturdy enough to be used for two additional years? What about the electrical supply -- the trailers currently use the main building's electricity, which obviously isn't being used beyond the workers' tools. Is the electrical circuit sufficient to power both the trailers and the school in full use?
