It seems like we could have a little sympathy for OP. It's not like she is a pampered daddy's girl having a 100K gala at the Ritz. She did not even get the dress she wanted and then to have a "friend" take her bouquet. That's just wrong. I think her "friends" were angry about the taped-on names and felt it was snobby of her to be unwilling to ruin her dress. I suspect they are generally jealous of her accomplishments (new home, respectable job, good man). I would also be willing to bet $500 that OP is an extremely attractive woman. What else could make women behave in such a catty fashion? I don't buy the theory that everyone thought the instruction to take home leftovers included the bridal bouquet. Other women know its significance very well.
Oh, I'd have been itching to take it. Because by OP's own admission, she was a Bridezilla, and I'm going to add "high maintenance and difficult" to the list as well. Simply based on her behavior here, she comes across as high strung and needy. It would just be too much fun to drive her batty with something like the bouquet. Mean? Sure. But considering what I'm willing to wager she's put her friends through over the years... You really think this is the first time she's ever mentioned the cake and the endless litany of minor complaints she listed for us here? Oh yeah, it would have very, very tempting.
You old and experienced women should be ashamed of your behavior here! We all got married and we all know how stressful and emotionally overwhelming it is. The poor girl didn't even bring her family! We all had the little details we were picky about in our own weddings and we all had our chance to be a Bridezilla too.
No, we "all" did not. I wasn't stressed out and emotionally overwhelmed. I was much more concerned with the aspects of a marriage rather than the details of planning a wedding. I didn't have a single family member at my wedding. This didn't bother me at all. I didn't hire a photographer and my friend make a cake. It was simple and perfect. Having a wedding is what you make of it. My friends mom asked me for my bouquet and I didn't twice about giving it to her. I didn't give a crap about those flowers. But I can see how if OP was that emotionally invested in some flowers it would be upsetting to her if they came up missing.
