The Economist had a thing on this recently about how early elite performance disproportionately fails to translate to top performance later on.[/quote] That article illustrated the same statistical phenomenon - there is no contradiction in saying that those who are Y disproportionately come from X even though most X will not become Y (because the funnel is so narrow at the top).[/quote]
