How about UVA vs UMD for physics/music? Scholarship offer even out the cost differential.
Music for performance? I can say that the Music School at U of M attracts some very interesting guest faculty. And there are lots of free concerts offered on campus. Check out the offerings of ums.org. There are student-priced tickets. The Music School's performance calendar is at smtd.umich.edu. It's hard to predict how to make a career out of a music degree so I can't advise there. Just wanted to say that I can attest to rich exposure to music events at Michigan. Physics for what career goal? My dad is a Physics PhD. Grad school is often needed to get a job. The ones who make the most go into Finance.
I think this poster is debating UVA and UMD and not UVA and Michigan. If all else is equal when it comes to physics, UMD is the better music school. I guess it depends on what you want to do with music. If UVA and Michigan, and all else equal for physics, then Michigan for music.
Thanks, PP. Yes, my kid is deciding between UMD and UVA. How about physics?
PP...this thread is about UVA vs. Umich...this is the wrong thread to get good answers.
