Middlebury has been overenrolled since 2020 and had to pay students $10K to take a semester off. The decline in enrollment is purposeful and designed to return the college to pre-COVID numbers. And the departure of Laurie Patton is the best thing that could have happened to Middlebury. She turned a blind eye to a decade of budget deficits, allowed MIIS to drag down the undergraduate college, and was responsible for the team that mismanaged enrollment. Good riddance!
