Yes, crime spiked during Frumin's tenure and remains higher than before he was in office. Easily found by checking DC crime cards. He votes on crime bills, no?

You seem to suggest it just happened out of the blue. Of course, Frumin is to blame because he supports policy that directly correlate with that increase in crime. There is cause and effect at this point. If you look at a crime map for Ward 3 and track the incidents, you will find that many take place along the Connecticut Ave NW corridor near the voucher buildings. There are homicides in location where there never were in the decades prior.

All crime in ward 3 is up by almost 20 percent during the 3 year period (ending today) compared to the previous 3-year period. What has he ever done to tackle crime in the Ward, particularly in the areas where it has increased more dramatically? If crime rates are dropping now, we can attribute it to Draconian policing and not Frumin.

On the projects, the funding of the projects could be halted while the issue is sorted, no? Why should taxpayers bear that burden? How is Frumin helping us? How is he making Ward 3 safer for its residents? [/quote]

You want to blame Frumin for policies that you believe increased crime in Ward 3 a couple of years ago, but not give him any credit for policies that you believe decreased crime in Ward 3 this year?

News flash: Frumin had nothing to do with any of these policies and neither does any single council-member.

You may have your issues with the way the city goes about housing formerly-homeless people and that’s fine. Many people from across the political spectrum have criticized how the program is run. After all, the only reason that Frumin is now the council-member is that his predecessor leveled a few criticisms of her own and got so much blowback she decided to quit the council.

Every convenience store and CVS in Ward 3 were looted regularly for two years.  Some stores closed.  All now lock up their merchandise.  We all pay more because of this. If you did know what was in the bill, you would understand that prosecutors jobs are more difficult - and DC is therefore less safe - for that bill not becoming law. Liberal by any standard, Mary was able to serve as a circuit breaker for some of the Councils worst instincts on crime, vouchers, and sanctuary city issues. Yes. The other poster seems to believe Ward 3 constitutes some kind of jurisdiction and can take its ball and go home if it doesn’t like what the city is foisting upon it. Ward 3 is far wealthier and whiter than anywhere else in the city. The optics of Ward 3 NiMBYs screaming bloody murder about housing vouchers are horrendous. The evisceration of Mary Cheh after she raised a few valid complaints was a lesson that Matt Frumin has wisely heeded. Doing the kinds of things that the other poster apparently wanted would have worked out very badly for the residents of the ward.[/quote]

Stop apologizing for poor performance Crime has gone up because of DC Council Policies that Frumin supported. As the Ward that pays the most taxes to DC, Ward 3 residents have every right to demand policies that promote safety and ones that don't lead to skyrocketing -- yes, skyrocketing -- crime. Ward 3 crime went up and people are fed up with idiocy. Times are different now and people regret voting for Frumin and voters have learned from mistakes of the past.  [/quote]
