The Beach, Richmond (and arguably Skyline) players were also not invited to the NC session, so there is a chance that US Soccer did drop a ball on this one. At minimum, if a ECNL (or GA) club does not respond, one would think US Soccer would... follow up.
Why did all of the other northern Virginia clubs figure it out? Even Alexandria did.
Alexandria has 3 from 2012 but none from 2011 which makes sense. Maybe the clubs did submit the recommendations and either US Soccer didn’t take them for whatever reason. It’s possible that clubs got busy during the pre-season and missed the email or deadline. No point arguing though - we will have to wait and see if they add anyone to 9/17 or they set up another session in the region next month (however unlikely this is) or these kids will have another opportunity for the Jan/ Feb session one
The fact other clubs did not recommend tells me it is a non event or free soccer camp at best. At least the ones who posted now showed their groups of “untouchables” so others in the supporting cast role can plan accordingly. DMV club soccer in the works 👏👏😃
lol, we call it Peacocking. We’re happy for the girls who the club nominated of course, but now the amount of coaching attention the girls are receiving is becoming even more disproportionate to the other players, yes my DD included. I don’t know how all teams deal with trying to keep a lid on favoritism, but on our team both the picked girls and the ‘pre-chosen 2013s & 2014s’ receive guest invites, extra training and extra coaching and counseling the other players don’t receive. And yes, kids do feel like they are supposed to play a ‘supporting role’ when clubs handle the attention poorly.
This supporting roll nonsense is DMV thing. You are all paying money for equal attention and exposure. Press the issue w the coaches while simultaneously working an exit strategy if you feel overlooked. Funny thing about hyping individual talent up in a team sport is that it is a team sport. If your kid is truly a contributing force on the team use that leverage to force that conversation w coaching staff. Stars cant shine w/o a competent submissive team. Unless they are truly game changers who can generate offense and high level defense/iq on their own. Which is why when clubs repeatedly force feed these kids who lack killer instinct and talent at these IDs they send back home. Meanwhile there is some kid w 20assists and 4 goals 15 defensive saves etc that should be at the id session but is not. Because parents are scared to press the issue. TDs/Clubs looking for easy commitments at the expense of the rest of the team normally try to forcefeed average players. Over the years Ive seen this not work with various teams. Sometimes parents wise up and rise up. Sometimes they stay quiet and find that they wasted 20k that could have gone to better use in a college fund. No nattys or college announcements. All because they were programmed to stay quiet. Meanwhile the teams in other regions working to spread the wealth and build team chemistry thrive. Ill get off my soap box lol and good luck to you all. Times a tickin
Teams in other regions? You’re saying all of this political nonsense only exists in this area? With that statement, your post loses all credibility.
