Social media posts by Canadian snowbirds, aimed at Canadian snowbirds, with advice on locating and booking winter accommodation in non-US locations appearing in the last few days. Looks like Portugal is the new Florida…. Signed A. Canadian
Why ANYONE would choose FL over Portugal is a mystery. But especially now. If I were foreign, and esp. brown skinned foreign, there is zero chance I'd step foot in the US. As much as I hate to see how far my country has fallen, I hope the World Cup and Olympics (or individual teams) rethink coming here. It's now a "sh--hole country."
Why do Americans often choose FL over Portugal? Because it’s easier. It’s often cheaper. If you live in Toronto or Montreal getting to FL is quick and easy. There’s a reason that millions of Canadians have done it for decades.
They are coming for weather, not culture. There are a million places they can go for weathers. Florida can rot.
You realize that decreasing revenue in a major sector of our 3rd most populous state is not a good thing for the US. You do realize this, right?
After Europe and Canada are forced to pay for their defense and pay reciprocal tariffs they won't have jobs or money to jet set in any numbers. Net gain for USA by an exponential amount.
LOL, you keep telling yourself that. In the real world, the other countries and trading zones are creating tariff free or tariff-lite deals that exclude the US. At the end of the day, the US economy is being decimated and the rest of the world is moving on. There is no replacing trade deals for example selling US beef abroad or US cash crops abroad when Brazil and Argentina can fill the void.
So if they can't rip us off then they will have gigantic trade deficits with China and the rest of Asia without reserve currency and their massive welfare states. Get the popcorn !!!
They aren't "ripping us off" If you go to the grocery and spend $100, then you have a "trade deficit" of $100 to the grocery store. But you have $100 worth of groceries. Trump, for purposes of tariffs, is calling that a trade deficit when it is really US consumer and businesses buying stuff that they need.
They have huge tariffs and trade barriers Thats why they are freaking out over US charging 30 percent tariffs. We don't need Europe's products one bit ... They need our market and it's huge trade deficit. Trump is an absolute hero for US citizens and workers.
Uh, our global national companies that have been making bank since the end of WW2 absolutely need the european markets. What are you even talking about?
