Game is trending bigger. People make same complaints in UK, all clubs looking for the next Jude Bellingham and missing on Vitinha. Folks are being a bit petty here. Some of SYC's best players leave for academies, which is one reason they don't have the same level of success at older ages (same as Bethesda). What the club has accomplished in the last couple of weeks is to be commended. They represented the DMV soccer community extremely well. I have no affiliation with SYC.
+1 Folks are being petty. Also, my DD has been on two teams with fantastic players who are tiny. -High work rate, great game IQ, fearless players & great skill level. The only problem is, they can't win the ball. They are boxed out, can't out run or out muscle the bigger players with less skill. They are great when we play lower ranked teams, but they essentially disappear when we play tougher teams. They are completely ineffective at the higher level. Coaches know this is a harsh reality of competitive team sports. Any coach around here will play the physically stronger kids all day, every day if given the chance. People on this board have a point winning does not equate to development, but if you're not trying to win, you're kinda missing the over arching point of playing sports.
Maybe on the women’s side. Certainly not on the men’s.
