Dems need to, as Ezra Klein put it, face why Trump won. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/democrats-need-to-face-why-trump-won/id1548604447?i=1000699618199 They need to stop their need for political purity and their resulting in-fighting. It's ridiculous to call for Schumer's resignation. It's the same as the GOP calling for judges to be impeached. They need to refocus their message on the working class. The people barely surviving through a gig economy, with inflation and possibly stagflation coming their way. They need to look at whole systems to understand why there are housing shortages and not primarily focus on helping the most vulnerable. Don't stop helping them, but that can't be your main messaging. Your messaging has to be we are all in this together. Let's create opportunity for all, so that all can thrive. You have to stop demonizing whole classes of people. Police, white men, Karens. Republicans themselves. It feels good. I get it. I feel it too. But you are alienating half the nation. We talk about being inclusive. Walk the walk. Include those you disagree with. Make genuine room for diversity of perspective too.
I could have written this post myself. yes, I agree 100% I don't call myself a Democrat any more because I'm sickened by the spinless wimps who are unable to fight Trump. Why did we elect these people? I tell everyone I can that diversity means including those you don't agree with, but I'm not getting much of an audience for that message, sadly. I get why Magas hate Democrats. They feel disrespected by Democrats who call them "deplorable" and refuse to see beyond their racisim, homophobia, anti-abortion crap and all kinds of intolerance to understand that these people feel powerless. Blaming immigrants or trans people for all their problems gives them power, because they have none. And they are afraid. If the Dems can eat a little humble pie and admit their holier-than-thou policies have turned off people whose interests actually do align with those of the Democrats despite their offensive biases, the Dems might have a fighting chance to stop the Trump Musk bulldozer/fascist onslaught. I'm not holding my breath....
Or these people need to form their own party. The Dem party already is the one creating, advocating and pushing forward policies that most support all Americans. Have they made mistakes along the way, sure, but their commitment towards progress haas been unwavering. Millions have already made sacrifices in the name of the above. I’m not making anymore so people can hold onto their biases and feel powerful. If that’s why they choose Trump, fine that’s their right. I hope they feel better. But, don’t now ask me to fix what gets broken.
