Ok, I guess.  Is it just free tuition?  Is $10k for an instate kid from a top private particularly meaningful?

Parents are starting to realize that attending private schools like Lovett, Woodward, St. Pius, etc., can actually have a negative impact when applying to UGA and GT, as well as prominent out-of-state institutions. Many have moved their students to public high schools where they face less competition from achieving students. [/quote]

Perhaps not to you, but many parents choose private K-12 for reasons other than college admissions.
