Does anyone know how many kids are in the NCCF program for teens with violent convictions?
Nearly all, if not all.
I meant how many kids are in that group home program—20 or 200 or what? (As opposed to teens that are actually living at the Greentrre shelter, which I think is a totally different situation—I think those are kids/teens living with their moms who have fled an unsafe living situation like abuse. It seems like they are not the problem—it’s the group home teens who were placed there as ann out-placement from juvenile justice involvement.).
In 2022 there were 8. https://moco360.media/2021/01/04/the-reckoning/
Are these people for real???? "In September 2019, a 19-year-old Black student from GAP was charged with assault after he allegedly struck another student with a frying pan during class, according to Montgomery County police. Chapman says the student suffers from mental health issues and had been racially harassed. He was later found not criminally responsible in a county court." So, this 19-year-old 'kid' is essentially criminally insane - and still gets to go to Whitman High?
Wait… so a hate crime was committed against a mentally ill student and he hit the racist with a frying pan. Sounds like a FAFO situation.
Yep, sounds like that to me too.
Sounds the same to me. Don’t let your mouth write checks you aren’t prepared to cash.
I wish Jawando could see all your comments. Mayhaps you can convince him to rethink RJ.
I don’t have problems with RJ when it has proper investment to include RJ Specialist and Social workers who are experts in the work, school based training, and appropriate consequences and repair to the community. This sounds like a good situation for RJ. That said, I’ve seen kids and adults keep pushing folks until they get their a$$ beat or have their vitriol thrown back at them. Sometimes hard lessons get people to change their behavior and offers a lesson to others.
