They just need to make it illegal at the federal level for their kids to enroll in any schools here, and illegal at the federal level for them to receive any benefits whatsoever, and some of them will start to deport themselves for us. I hope it becomes possible somehow for us to stop birthright citizenship. That will remove a lot of the incentive. I believe the constitution is not as clear about this as some people think, since it assumes those people were legal immigrants who come here. In any case, I hope we could get the votes now to change that (even if it’s a specific voting question during the next election).
Birthright citizenship is in the constitution
thats actually debatable- many originalists, like the Justices on the Supreme Court, believe that the 14th amendmnet was wrongly interpreted b/c it was in the best interest of the robber Barons to have a large immigrant workforce, we needed more immigrants to accomplish our Manifest Destiny. There is an argument to be made that the authors of the 14th amendment only meant birthright for the desendants of slaves and free white men. the 14th amendment granted birtright citzenship right away to the masses of immigrants that were coming in at that time but it was never granted to Mexican and Hispanic americans who lived in the border states and many who had american passports were deported to Mexico. Britain got rid of birthright citzenship - they had granted citizenship to many people from the commenwealth countries rigt after independence so were working from the same fears. They didnt apply it retroactively even though even more than americans you can prove your ethnic heritage is English, Welsh, Scottish. They can also repeal the Immigration act of 1965 and retroactively repeal anyone's citizenship who came then i guess. that is my nightmare scenario b/c then i'll only have a useless pakistano passport. maybne time to buy property in greece and get a EU citizenship. Maybe they'll allow a golden visa type situation for the Sundar Pichais and Satya Nadellas but Bannon wants them gone.
We aren’t Britain and our country was founded on immigration.
Do you not get that Trump won this election because he was playing on peoples fears, innate tribalism and plain old racism and their fear and hatred of immigrants who they found it easy to other. Heck even many hispanic people found it easy to other each other. Please tell me you understood that and decided to vote for him anyway. Immigration for many who voted for Trump is the issue, legal vs illegal is semantics for them.
