Did your kids go to DCPS schools K-12? East of the Park? Do you avoid whole swathes of the city? Do you feel like you could take a stroll by yourself in the dark in pretty much any neighborhood?

oh ffs. get off twitter and into the real world. yes, my trash gets picked up twice a week. I can call 311 to schedule additional pickups. My kid goes to a DCPS MS doing a great job with him. We spend tons of time in DPR pools in the summer. Our block regularly gets city rat abatement. and on and on.

Obviously DC has some issues but so do all cities. DC isn’t in the fiscal crisis it was in when it was last subject to a control board, not even close. The systems that need support are notably those where federal involvement has actually created some of the management difficulties - particularly criminal justice. If a Congressman from Idaho would like to propose a bill to meaningfully improve the administration of justice in DC, let’s see it. Meanwhile frothing at the mouth about traffic cameras and crime in DC (meanwhile taking no steps to appoint us judges in a timely manner) just shows this has zero to do with administering a city the way the last control board did.
