Woman here and I see no reason why women shouldn’t be drafted too. It’s not a burden men should carry alone.
Feminists want equality, except for hard things like national defense. Feminists are ok when things like that are unequal. Feminists are more than happy to let men carry the burden unequally in those cases.
What an idiotic post. Men want equality except for hard things like taking care of children and not committing violent crimes. Men are ok when things like that are unequal. Men are more than happy to let women carry the burden unequally in those cases.
Men don't want equality--that's a feminist's term. Men want men to be men and women to be women. Each sex has a slate of tasks to which it is naturally better suited. Whether the burden is carried equally is a matter of opinion. In fairness to the women, men used to have a significant risk they'd go to war and die. Without that, the old system isn't necessarily "fair."
Stupid. You want to create rigid generalizations and force everyone into them. Treat people as individuals. There are men who are "better suited" to child rearing and women who are not. There are women who are "better suited" to being the breadwinners in a family and men who are not. Stop trying to suffocate people with your rigid beliefs in there only being one way for each gender to live their life. I don't want the slate of tasks you are trying to force on me. It's called freedom and liberty and that is the American way, for us each to choose our own destiny. Also the reason men have had to go to war and die is because men start wars. Stop starting wars and that won't be the case anymore. Easy peasy.
We are talking policy. Making policy based on exceptions would be horribly inefficient. In a liberal world, we were supposed to make room for the exceptions you describe. Unfortunately, most people are too dumb to understand exceptions and can only only handle simple rules. See, e.g., military structures employed since the Prussians. We don't have freedom any more in the US. I can't freely associate because that would hurt the feelings of people who are different. You're right about men starting wars, but women are proving to be warmongers themselves. It's almost like power is the reason people start wars. If you want fewer wars, you should support a reduction in the power of the government. But if you're a woman, it's highly unlikely you'd support such a position.
